The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Visit Korea Committee on April 22 announced their hosting of Korea Welcome Week from April 25 to May 16.
The event's dates are meant to coincide with Japan's Golden Week, a period between April 29 and May 5 containing multiple public holidays, China's Labor Day and the second senior officials' meeting of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Summit on Jeju Island.
Welcome booths during this period will be set up in order at the international airports of Incheon, Gimpo and Jeju and Busan Port's international passenger cruise terminal.
The booths will display traditional crafts such as household handicrafts, Hanji (traditional paper) and nacre. Guides fluent in English, Japanese and Chinese will offer information on tourism and travel convenience such as communication and transportation.
Benefits will include discounts, exchange vouchers and souvenirs.
Information on domestic travel including regional tourist attractions, shopping and amenities, currency exchange offices and schedule are also available on the event's official website (https://koreawelcomeweek.com).
The committee will also hold the event during the APEC Summit, which runs from October to November in Gyeongju, Gyeongsangbuk-do Province.
This is the official poster for this year's Korea Welcome Week. (Visit Korea Committee)
